HRTS 2019 in Review
Season’s greetings! With the approach of 2020, we at HRTS are so excited about the coming year, especially as we look back with gratitude upon the incredible bonds, insights, and resources we’ve all shared throughout this year. Thank you for your participation. Here are some highlights of 2019 —
- We started out 2019 by upgrading the Member Access login experience on hrts.org, so you may now update your info, renew your membership, and access expanded HRTS Member Perks, HRTS Channel video (last month’s HRTS Newsmaker Luncheon: Hitmakers Who Represent is now live) and resources such as the inaugural HRTS Diversity & Inclusion Guide Presented by Easterseals Disability Services.
- We continued to expand and evolve our annual Mentorship Programs on both coasts (the LA Mentorship Program is accepting applications for 2020 HERE until Dec. 19).
- This spring…CBS generously hosted us on the set of “The Talk” for HRTS’ Women of the West Winter Reunion Hosted by CBS Eye Speak… We welcomed a standing-room-only crowd for the HRTS Unscripted dinner panel event The Business of Non-Fiction Podcasting at The Beverly Wilshire … and several members of our Board gathered with HRTS Executive, Associate and JHRTS members in NYC for the 2nd annual HRTS at Upfronts: Breakfast with the Board hosted by WME, which sponsored the breakfast with ICM Partners.
- June was momentous, as we brought back the HRTS Newsmaker Luncheon: Network Chiefs… our HRTS Associates-LA membership presented their first Summer Soiree, a fundraiser and membership drive for this new and fast-growing membership segment of HRTS serving mid-career entertainment professionals … and the HRTS Board of Directors Election Committee set to work on a slate of inspiring new and returning HRTS Board Directors who in September were voted in. HRTS also formed the HRTS Advisory Council of esteemed past Directors.
- In the second half of the year, UTA hosted HRTS Unscripted: Opportunity in Esports, which provided top-level insight and context into the multibillion-dollar esports boom with the support of Contributing Sponsor SRI … we live-streamed the HRTS Spotlight Breakfast: 2nd annual How Inclusion, Representation and Diversity Drive Innovation, Presented by A+E Networks and Easterseals Disability Services… and the fall Newsmaker Luncheon: Hitmakers Who Represent highlighted the impact and future of authentic storytelling from LGBTQIA+ perspectives.
- As we ended the year, the JHRTS on both coasts offered a promising glimpse into what the future leaders of our industry can do with an incredible slate of December events, including their sold-out 17th annual JHRTS Holiday Celebration: Winter Masquerade, which received outstanding support from leading companies across our business community… and JHRTS-NY collaborated with HRTS Associates-NY on a likewise sold-out event Streaming Black Culture: The Launch of BET+, hosted by BET.
