The international scripted TV panel was a great success and brought to light a niche in the industry to which most assistants are not exposed. The timing of the premier of THE WALKING DEAD and its ratings success made for a great opening into a discussion of how shows travel, how they are made over multiple territories, how American creators work with creatives abroad and how formats are both brought into America and sent abroad. The panelists (Jeff Tahler – Fremantle, Quinn Taylor – ABC, Sharon Tal Yguado – Fox International Channels, Carrie Stein – 3 Arts Entertainment and Crispin Leyser – Channel 4 and Viasat) represented a wide array of the different ways the American TV industry interacts with foreign markets, but all had overlapping projects and many, in fact, owed calls to one another. The chemistry between the panelists was great and Ian led them into interesting and thought provoking discussions while keeping the atmosphere light-hearted and fun. The questions from the audience were also very smart and spurred thoughtful answers.
