Melissa Grego is CEO of Hollywood Radio & Television Society (HRTS), a community of leading TV and entertainment professionals working in partnership to connect, educate and provide access to the industry. Upon her appointment in October 2017, Grego became the first female executive to lead the non-profit membership organization in its 75-year history.
Prior to HRTS, Grego parlayed her network and knowledge as a longtime television business journalist to establish her consulting practice, Melinc, where she launched and executive produced TV and media industry conferences such as Next TV Summit and TV Data Summit, as well as the ‘Keynotes & Cocktails: Women of the West’ and ‘Women of NY’ conferences she founded.
Among her journalism roles, Grego was the first female Editor-in-Chief of the TV industry publication Broadcasting & Cable. Grego also covered TV as a staff reporter at Variety and held editorial leadership positions at The Hollywood Reporter and TelevisionWeek. She continues to write, primarily personal essays, which have been published in The Washington Post, Purple Clover and other publications. Grego has provided expert commentary for a variety of news outlets including CNBC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR and “Entertainment Tonight,” and was a special correspondent for the entertainment news program “Extra.” She has lectured at UCLA and University of Southern California and frequently moderates panels and Q&As with TV and media industry figures around the world.
